Ultrasound scanning is a safe and painless diagnostic tool used to examine many different parts of the body such as liver, gall bladder and pelvis. It’s also very useful in identifying musculoskeletal injuries in joints such as the knees or shoulders. It uses sound waves to create images of organs and structures inside your body. As it uses sound waves and not radiation, it is thought to be harmless.
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and as the name suggest the scanner contains a very strong magnet. This established diagnostic scanning technique uses the principles of magnetic resonance and there is no radioactivity or x-rays used.
As part of Kleyn Imaging's commitment to patient and referrer services we will shortly be commissioning x-ray scans. An X-ray is a safe and painless procedure that IS often used to produce images of the inside of the body. It's a very effective way of looking at fractured bones, such as a broken arm or wrist. X-rays can also be used to examine organs and identify problems. An X-ray can highlight a lung infection, such as pneumonia.
